Charles Hughes Ltd., Portwest commenced trading in 1904 & the company has now celebrated over 100 years in business. This is the third generation of the Hughes family involved in the running of the business & in that time the Portwest Group has been involved in manufacturing activities providing employment in the Westport area & beyond.

There are currently two stores in Westport; one in High St. Galway and one in Suffolk St. Dublin and a franchise shop has opened in Dundalk, Co. Louth. Portwest also open a specialist surf Shop in Lahinch during the Easter holidays and summer. The plan is to open many more in the next couple of years, all over the country.
